"Think like a ninja."

After having commented about feeling a tad under the weather, Jon, sitting next to me, had responded with what was quite possibly the most sage advice I’d ever received before: "Think like a ninja." It was profound, yet understandable – a confident, positive attitude would destroy any malady that dare stand in my way. I absolutely loved this concept.

While casting a puzzled expression at my sudden judo stance, Jon slowly repeated himself, though it turned out his actual recommendation wasn't nearly as close (or as cool) as I'd previously thought: "What are you doing?" he asked. "I said you should take echinacea."

While amusing, this had been the last straw in dealing with a recent and sudden decline of hearing in my right ear. I immediately went to an ear doctor and confirmed the presence of loss. As a precaution, I was advised to get an MRI, and less than 24 hours later, discovered I was living with a brain tumor specifically known as an Acoustic Neuroma.

I then realized it really was time to start thinking like a ninja. This thing's got no chance on me.
